Community Guidelines
Version 2026-10-25
Psst exists so people in the same room can show interest quietly and safely. These guidelines apply to everything you do on Psst — your profile, every psst, every chat — and to how you treat people you meet through it, inside and outside the venue. By claiming a band you agree to follow them. Breaking them can get your band disabled for the night, your account suspended, or your account banned for good.
1. Consent comes first
- A psst is an invitation, not a claim on anyone. If someone doesn't say it back, that is their answer. Don't try to find out who they are, follow them around the venue, or ask staff or friends to pass on a message.
- Mutual means you may talk — nothing more. Anyone can stop replying, unmatch or block at any time, and that decision is final.
- Never pressure anyone to share contact details, social media, photos, their location or plans to leave together.
- Touching, dancing with or approaching someone requires their clear agreement, every time. The venue's own conduct rules apply on top of these guidelines.
- Room games are invitations too. Passing is always fine, and nobody owes their pair a drink, a dance or a conversation.
2. Respect everyone
We don't allow:
- harassment, threats, intimidation, stalking or repeated unwanted contact;
- hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability or serious illness;
- insults about someone's body, appearance or choices;
- encouraging anyone to harm themselves.
3. Be yourself — and only yourself
- One person, one account. Sign in only with your own Apple or Google account.
- Your photo must show you: a selfie taken in the app or a photo of you from your library. No photos of other people, celebrities, drawings or filters that hide who you are.
- Your nickname can change between venues within the limits the app sets, but it must not impersonate a real person or mislead people about who you are.
- Psst is for adults: 21 and over, or 18 and over at social events (Psst Events) that admit guests from 18. Don't claim a band if you are younger than the night allows, and don't help anyone underage use Psst.
4. Keep it clean
- No nudity, sexual content or sexual solicitation in photos, bios, nicknames or messages.
- No offering or requesting sex for money or anything of value.
- No graphic violence, weapons or illegal drugs.
5. Protect people's privacy
- Every photo you see carries an invisible mark tied to your account. Don't screenshot, record or share anyone's profile or messages outside Psst.
- Don't share anyone's personal information — names, addresses, workplaces, phone numbers, social accounts — without their permission.
- Don't use Psst to find out who someone is, where they live or who they were with.
6. Tonight's wall
- Post only live photos of the room: the lights, the stage, the crowd from afar. Photograph a person only when they said yes.
- Anyone in a photo can have it taken down at once with "I'm in this photo", and you can remove your own post at any time during the night.
- The venue may share snapshots and announcements from its night to Psst's public wall, where every signed-in member can see them for 30 days, credited only to the venue and the date. Take photos with that in mind: the people in your photo agreed to be in it, not necessarily to be seen beyond the room.
- You can keep all your posts in the room (Settings) or take one back from the public wall. "I'm in this photo" works on the public wall too.
- Tonight, only people in the venue see the wall. Afterwards it's kept in the night's archive, where guests can't see it: the venue can open it for 12 months, and Psst keeps it after that. To have one of your snapshots removed from an archive, contact Psst support; deleting your account removes all of them.
7. Room chat
- Where the venue has it on, everyone in the room tonight can read the chat. Write in your own words, as you would say it out loud to the whole room.
- No insults, slurs, threats or sexual comments about anyone, in any language or spelling. Messages pass a word filter and moderation before anyone sees them.
- No phone numbers, links, emails or social handles: to swap details, match first.
- Write sentences, not one word at a time, and don't repeat yourself: floods are stopped.
- The venue's DJ and managers can remove a message, or close the chat to you for tonight or at the venue. Report a message with a tap; Psst's safety team sees every report.
8. No scams, spam or selling
- No advertising, promotions, recruiting, fundraising or links to sell anything.
- Never ask anyone for money, gift cards, crypto or financial details, for any reason.
- No bots, scripts, fake accounts or automated activity.
9. Respect the venue
- Venue staff are responsible for the room. Follow their instructions, including their alcohol service rules.
- Return your band at the exit when the venue asks. Don't take, swap or tamper with bands that aren't yours.
- Use Report, Call staff and the Angela phrase honestly. False reports made to hurt someone break these guidelines.
10. Report what's wrong
If someone breaks these guidelines, report them from their profile, from your chat, or by their band number in Settings → Help and rules → Report. Reports are confidential. If you feel unsafe, use Call staff; in an emergency, call 911.
What happens when guidelines are broken
Depending on what happened, we may:
- remove content or a photo;
- end a match or chat;
- have venue staff disable a band for the rest of the night;
- suspend an account while our safety team reviews it — this happens automatically when an account is reported at two venues, or three times in one night;
- permanently ban an account and prevent the person from creating a new one.
Blocks and bans follow the account, not the nickname or the band. We may share information with venues or law enforcement where the law requires it or where someone's safety is at risk, as described in our Privacy Policy.
