What is Psst?
Psst is a way to meet people in the same room tonight. At a Psst venue everyone who joins wears a numbered band. You can see who else is here tonight and send someone an anonymous psst. If they send you one too, it's mutual: you both see each other and can chat, send a drink or simply walk over.
Is it a dating app?
Not in the usual sense. There is no swiping through strangers in your city. Psst only works between people who are in the same venue on the same night, and nothing happens unless both of you say psst.
Will someone know I said psst?
Only if they said psst to you too. A psst that isn't returned is never shown, hinted at or counted — not to them, not to the venue, not to anyone.
Does Psst know where I am?
No. The app never asks for your location. When you tap your band at the venue, Psst knows you are in that room tonight; that is all.
Do I need the app?
You can use Psst in the web app or in the Psst app for iPhone and Android. Set up your profile at home, then at the venue tap your band with your phone (or type the code inside the band) and you're in.
What do other people see about me?
Tonight's profile: your nickname, your photo, your band number and, if you add them, a short bio and your answer to the question of the night. Other people's photos carry an invisible mark tied to your account, so screenshots can be traced. Your Instagram handle, if you add it, shows only when and to whom you choose.
What happens after the night?
Tonight's profile, your pssts and chats from matches you didn't both save are deleted 24 hours after the night ends. If you both save a match, it becomes a connection and your chat stays until one of you removes it.
What if someone makes me uncomfortable?
Block them — they can't see you again, at this venue or any other. Report them, and Psst's safety team reviews every report. The safety button reaches the venue's staff in the room, and the Safety Center explains every option.
Can I be invisible?
Yes. Go invisible at any time: you disappear from tonight's room for everyone until you come back.
Is Psst free?
Yes, using Psst at a venue is free for guests. If you like, you can buy a band of your own in the app; it works at every Psst venue.
Can I buy drinks through Psst?
No. Psst never sells alcohol. When you send someone a drink, they choose to accept it, you order and pay at the bar, and the venue's staff can always refuse service.
What are room games?
Some venues run short games that pair guests at random: Drink Roulette, Dance Match, Question Roulette and more. Join from My night if you like; you see your pair for tonight, and nothing happens unless you both say yes. You can always pass, and you can turn game invites off in Settings.
How old do I have to be?
You must be 21 or older, or the venue's own minimum age if it is higher. Venues check ID at the door.
How do I delete my account?
In Settings, choose "Delete account". Your profile, photo and connections are deleted; the Privacy Policy explains the few records we must keep.
For venues
What does a venue need?
Your usual door with ID checks, staff phones for Door and Bar Mode, and a screen if you have one. We send numbered bands, a counter stand and training.
How does a pilot work?
Apply on our website. We review your request and send a free pilot kit. The pilot runs for 30 days or 4 Psst Nights, whichever comes first; then you choose a plan, or the pilot bands stop working and go back to Psst.
What does it cost after the pilot?
Lite is $990 a year (or $99 a month) for one Psst Night a week. Pro is $1,990 a year (or $199 a month) for unlimited nights, Send a Drink, sponsors, marketing, timed offers and more than one screen. Chains are priced on request. Annual plans include 600 bands a year and a door device.
Who keeps the drink money?
You do. Drinks are sold and charged on your own register. Psst never takes payment for alcohol and never takes a share of your bar.
What do we see about guests?
Counts and trends — entries, matches, drinks, returning guests — never below 10 people. You see a guest's nickname and visits only if they joined your loyalty program, and the emails of guests who asked to hear from you.
How do we handle safety?
Staff Mode shows calls for help with the band number and table so your team can go to the guest. Your staff complete Psst's short training before running a mode, and Psst's safety team reviews every report.
